Serving Every Customer with One Payment Device: How LR Centre Modernised In-Person Payments with Stripe and Square1

Overview
Square1 partnered with LR Centre Ltd - the Liverpool-based, family-run Land Rover and Range Rover parts specialist - to deploy a custom Stripe Terminal application. The new system allows staff to take both card-present showroom payments and telephone payments on the same device.
LR Centre already runs a thriving ecommerce operation on Stripe, processing card payments through the lrparts.net website for customers around the world. The remaining gap sat in-store and on the phone, where customers paying at the counter or settling invoices over the phone were handled through separate payment infrastructure. The new deployment closes that gap, unifying web, counter, and phone payments under a single Stripe account, with telephone-payment (MOTO) capability enabled natively in the app to allow for phone payments alongside standard card-present transactions.
As a certified Stripe Partner Agency, Square1 delivered the engagement end-to-end - from Terminal feature build and app approval, through to device rollout and staff enablement. The result is a payment stack that reflects how LR Centre actually operates: a modern ecommerce business, with a physical showroom, on a single unified platform.
Our Role
Stripe & Payment Integration Product & Software Development

The Client
LR Centre Ltd is a family-run Land Rover and Range Rover parts and accessories business based in Speke, Liverpool. Founded in the 1979 by Bernie and Colette Morris, originally supplying parts to family, friends, and a handful of local enthusiasts from the family home, the business has grown into one of the UK's most established specialists in the sector, with over 270,000 products listed on its lrparts.net website and a broad customer base that spans restorers of 1960s Series vehicles, workshops maintaining working fleets, and owners of brand-new Range Rovers looking for accessories.
In 1994, LR Centre opened the world's first walk-around shop specifically for Land Rovers and Range Rovers, cementing its position as a destination for the enthusiast community. Today, led by Managing Director Neill Melia and with the founders' sons James and Paul continuing the family involvement, the nearly 50-plus-strong team combines decades of technical Land Rover knowledge with a modern e-commerce operation that ships worldwide, while continuing to serve customers face-to-face at the showroom in Speke.

Challenge
LR Centre's online business runs on Stripe whilst what sat outside that setup was every payment that wasn't a web checkout - customers paying at the showroom counter, and customers ringing in to settle invoices or pay for orders over the phone. Both of those channels were handled through separate payment tools, which meant multiple processors, multiple sets of statements, and multiple reconciliation flows for the finance team to keep straight against a single business.
Unifying everything under Stripe was the primary goal. A standard card-present Stripe Terminal could handle the counter, but couldn't take payments over the phone. Adding a separate virtual terminal or gateway for phone payments would have solved the technical gap but left LR Centre with two in-person tools alongside their existing web integration. What LR Centre needed was a single device that could handle both counter and phone payments, deployed on their existing Stripe account so that in-person, phone, and web transactions all landed in the same dashboard, on the same processing terms, feeding the same reconciliation flows.

Solution
Square1 designed and deployed a custom-branded Stripe Terminal S700 application with MOTO payments enabled alongside standard card-present transactions. The same device now handles both modes through a consistent, LR Centre-branded interface - a counter sale for a customer picking up a set of brake discs in the Speke showroom, or a phone-order payment for a customer settling an invoice over the phone - with the payment method selected contextually as the staff member starts the transaction.
The engagement covered the full delivery cycle. Square1 managed Terminal feature enablement on LR Centre's Stripe account, handled the app submission and approval process with Stripe, configured the phone-order payment capabilities with the correct processing profile, and executed device rollout and staff enablement. Because the app deploys directly onto LR Centre's existing Stripe account, LR Centre retained their existing processing rates, their existing dashboard, and their existing reporting flows, with in-person and phone payments now landing alongside web transactions rather than in a parallel system.
Every transaction the app produces carries structured metadata so LR Centre's finance team can cleanly reconcile counter, phone, and web revenue against their existing back-office systems, without introducing custom integration work or manual tagging.

Result
LR Centre now operates with a fully unified Stripe stack: web checkout, in-person counter sales, and phone payments all running through the same account, the same dashboard, and the same reporting flows. Staff use a single interface at the counter whether they're serving a customer in-person or taking a card from someone on the phone, eliminating the multi-tool workflow that had previously required parallel infrastructure and separate reconciliation. The custom branding on the device reinforces the LR Centre identity at every point of customer contact.
The deployment was live in a matter of days, and gives LR Centre a foundation to extend in-person payments as the business continues to evolve - whether that means additional devices in the showroom, deployment at LR Live events and shows, or extending the same app pattern to off-site trade activity. It's a productised solution built around how LR Centre actually operates: a modern ecommerce business, with a physical showroom, on a single unified Stripe platform.
Paul Morris
Director, LR Centre Ltd
“We already used Stripe successfully across our website, but counter and telephone payments still sat outside that setup. Square1 understood exactly what we were trying to achieve and handled everything from developing the app and securing Stripe’s approval through to configuring the devices and helping our staff get started.
“The whole process was straightforward and completed very quickly. We can now take counter and telephone payments through the same device, with everything visible within our existing Stripe account. It has simplified the day-to-day process for our sales team and made reconciliation much easier for finance.”
