BreakingNews.ie is one of Ireland’s leading digital news publishers, delivering breaking news, sport, politics, business, entertainment and international coverage to a large and highly engaged audience. As part of the Irish Times Group, the organisation serves millions of readers and requires a robust publishing platform capable of supporting fast moving news cycles, significant traffic volumes and evolving commercial requirements.
We partnered with the BreakingNews.ie team to modernise their digital platform, improve performance and provide a scalable foundation for future growth.

The Client
BreakingNews.ie is a leading Irish news website providing up to the minute coverage of national and international news, sport, politics, business and entertainment. Following several years of audience growth, the organisation sought to refresh its digital platform and work with a partner that understood the unique technical and commercial challenges faced by modern publishers.
The team required a solution that would support their expanding audience while improving performance, reliability and advertising effectiveness.
Challenge
BreakingNews.ie had experienced significant growth and needed a platform capable of keeping pace with increasing demand. The existing platform presented challenges around performance, stability and scalability, particularly during periods of heightened news activity and traffic spikes.
The organisation also wanted to improve page load speeds, strengthen search visibility, enhance advertising delivery and provide a better overall experience for readers. These objectives needed to be achieved within a tight project timeline while ensuring continuity for editorial teams and audiences.
Solution
The project began with a series of collaborative discovery and design workshops focused on user experience, content presentation and platform requirements. Working closely with the BreakingNews.ie team, we developed a clear roadmap for the migration and redevelopment of the site.
The website was rebuilt on our Publisher Plus platform using modern technologies and a performance focused architecture. Particular attention was given to reducing page size, optimising content delivery and improving the efficiency of the front end experience. The platform was also enhanced to provide greater resilience, improved advertising capabilities and stronger foundations for search engine optimisation.
Throughout the project, close communication and collaboration ensured that stakeholders remained informed and involved at every stage, allowing decisions to be made quickly and confidently.
Result
The new platform delivered substantial improvements in performance, reliability and scalability. Page load times were reduced by more than 50 percent, creating a faster and more responsive experience for readers across all devices.
Site stability improved significantly, enabling the platform to handle major traffic surges and high profile news events without disruption. The improvements to performance, search visibility and advertising infrastructure provided a stronger commercial foundation while supporting continued audience growth.
Today, BreakingNews.ie operates on a modern publishing platform designed to meet the demands of a leading digital news organisation, providing the speed, reliability and flexibility needed to support its ongoing success.
